Learning Commons

“A learning commons promotes the personalization of learning, inquiry and the integration of technology. The space, a blend of physical and virtual environments, transforms teaching and learning by allowing both staff and students to co-create knowledge. The physical environment is flexible and adaptable to the needs of individuals, small and large groups. It is an area where professional development, experiential learning, and action research may be incubated, explored and analyzed.”  Ken Rabb, Communications & Development Officer, Education Matters

Learning Commons Survey

A Learning Commons has 3 parts: the Open Commons, the Experimental Commons, and the Virtual Commons. The purpose of the Virtual Commons is to provide access to learning resources 24 hours a day.

We are working to develop list of resources for parents, students and teachers within the Virtual Commons. This will include collections of websites, tools, and tutorials that will be within easy access for both students and teachers.

The Learning Commons will always be a work in progress as technology, teaching, and learning continue to advance.
